From Sweets to Skincare: Vaibhav Mittal on Legacy, Self-Care & Building Empires with Heart

Play episode

We recently had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Vaibhav Mittal – Vice President of Lovely Professional University, Founder of the natural skincare brand Karmic Beauty, and the current COO of Lovely Autos, for one of our most heartfelt and thought-provoking Indian podcast episodes yet. His journey, which began humbly with his family’s iconic Lovely Sweets, has now transcended into realms of education, beauty entrepreneurship, and automotive leadership. As we explored the layers of his life, one thing stood out clearly: he’s a man grounded in legacy, purpose, and vision.

He also highlighted deeply about growing up in a growth-driven family where every achievement is cherished, but also comes with its fair share of responsibilities. From once being a student at LPU to now helping lead the very institution, his story is a beautiful full-circle moment. But it reminds us that not everything that glitters is gold.

Behind the rosy exterior lies grit, struggle, and sleepless nights of perseverance. We explored the importance of not judging anyone based on their background because understanding a person means digging deeper into their journey and soul.

Our conversation dove into the generational gaps that exist today, how misunderstanding often arises from a lack of patience, and how learning to be on the receiving end rather than always retaliating can bring clarity and growth. He shared how their family business bloomed from a modest sweet shop into a flourishing empire, a testament to startup growth in India, pushing boundaries and believing in miracles. Emphasizing that love is the foundation of creativity, legacy, and every meaningful brand.

This love is what gave birth to Karmic Beauty – one of India’s most genuinely natural skincare brands. Vaibhav shed light on the alarming reality of the Indian skincare industry: misleading labels, substandard ingredients, and widespread confusion between terms like “natural,” “herbal,” and “organic.” Unlike others, Karmic Beauty knows its yield, its soil, and its roots, making it one of the few Indian brands setting benchmarks not just locally but globally.

Unpacking how self-care, especially for men, remains undervalued in our society. From body odor to oral hygiene, grooming is often dismissed as “girly,” when in fact, it’s a powerful form of self-respect. We talked about the evolution of women’s roles, modern self-care, from spa days to a simple haircut, and how being aware of one’s body and surroundings can be transformative.

And then came the music. Vaibhav’s connection with classical music and guitar revealed the more silent, introspective side of him. His 10,000-hour journey into sound was not just about notes, but about connecting the visible and invisible worlds. Music, he said, is a form of meditation – a path to inner peace and a reminder that beauty often lies in stillness.

He also touched on spiritual love, not the destructive kind, but the kind that uplifts. We discussed the Gen Z “buzz,” the shifts across generations, and his powerful message to budding entrepreneurs: strong intent and unshakeable perseverance are the cornerstones of any meaningful success.

His life is a masterclass in blending tradition with innovation and heart with hustle. From sweets to skincare, his story reminds us that the intention behind every act shapes its impact.

This podcast left us feeling enriched, inspired, and truly alive.
